The Safe Harbour project will only proceed in the event that its environmental integrity can be demonstrated, and other issues such as car parking can be resolved.
Mornington Environment Association (MEA) has commenced a campaign to cause public opinion to oppose the concept, and is rapidly collecting signatures on petitions. Their leading question is "do you want to see Mothers Beach ruined?" to which one would obviously answer "no". They then ask for a signature on their petition to "ensure the beach is not ruined". We regard their actions as misleading and deceptive, but fear that their conduct may be a highly effective way of collecting signatures.
Whilst we understand that petitions are regarded with some scepticism by governments and councils, we nevertheless do not wish for MEA or any other objector to gain ground by giving the impression that the number of people who oppose the concept exceeds the number who support it.
Accordingly we have mounted our own campaign and now seek your help by asking you to click on and complete the fields in the electronic signatory box below (but only if you have not previously signed a paper petition).
To ensure the credibility of our petition we ask that you please avoid fictitious names or duplication and note that for your signature to be valid the mandatory boxes MUST be completed.
